METAL PULP AND PAPER: Nate, so glad to be catching up with you. Thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions for Metal Pulp And Paper about the upcoming 2019 Aftershock Festival that you are slated to be playing at in Sacramento, California coming this October. Aftershock is a monstrous event for music fans and music lovers everywhere. It’s metal, it’s rock and roll, it’s more metal, and it’s more rock and roll. To sum it up, it’s a three-day event with three stages, with over 50 artists at the Discovery Park in beautiful Sacramento, California. Are you geared up and ready for it?
NATE GARRET: Yes. We just did a headlining tour in support of our best album to date, and we're about to go play these songs for a few weeks in Europe as well. Aftershock is shortly after our European tour, so we'll be good and locked in. The more people watching us, the better we play, so Aftershock will be killer for sure.
MPAP: Tell us some of the best things about being a part of a music festival, especially playing at one of this magnitude?
NATE: The best part of playing music is connecting with people on a level that's superior to all other forms of communication. Musical connection is the closest we get to psychically bonding with each other on a profound level. I'm excited to do that on a large scale in Sacramento.
MPAP: Explain to us what is a day in the life when you’re performing at a music festival? Do you go hang out with the other bands, mingle with the fans, or kick back and relax on the tour bus until it’s time to hit the stage?
NATE: It depends on the vibe. Most festivals we've played, we enjoy hanging out with our friends who are also playing, as well as our fans. That'll probably be the case at Aftershock, too. We're probably going to be kicking around all day.
MPAP: This year’s bill has Slipknot, Staind, Tool, Korn, along with many others, including Lamb Of God, Highly Suspect, Gojira, and Babymetal. Is there any group that you’re especially looking forward to watching from the side stage the day you perform?
NATE: Randy from Lamb Of God is a great friend and solid dude, I wish we were playing the same day as them so we could at least say what's up. I'm looking forward to playing our set more than I care about seeing anyone else play. All I really care about is being the best band of the whole festival, which is totally doable, at least on our day.
MPAP: What’s in the crosshairs for Spirit Adrift after the festival? What else do you have going on after that we should all know about?
NATE: My ultimate goal is to tour with Metallica. So, we'll keep grinding hard toward that. World domination one step at a time.
MPAP: On behalf of myself and Metal Pulp And Paper, thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions. We look forward to what Spirit Adrift does to finish out 2019 and beyond.
NATE: Thanks for reaching out, we'll see you soon!
MPAP: Any last words for all your fans and all the Aftershock Festival maniacs out there that will see you in October? What do you want to tell them so they will go out and buy tickets and travel to California to see you and many others play live?
NATE: Thanks for the support, we look forward to seeing you all soon. Come see us play and we'll let our music and performance speak for itself.
