METAL PULP AND PAPER: Hello Archie. So glad to be catching up with you. Thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions for Metal Pulp And Paper about the upcoming 2019 Aftershock Festival that you are slated to be playing at in Sacramento, California coming this October. Aftershock is a monstrous event for music fans and music lovers everywhere. It’s metal, it’s rock and roll, it’s more metal, and it’s more rock and roll. To sum it up, it’s a three-day event with three stages, with over 50 artists at the Discovery Park in beautiful Sacramento, California. Are you geared up and ready for it?
ARCHIE CRUZ: We are so ready and couldn’t be more excited. I mean, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, Blink 182, who wouldn’t be? We have amazing shows under our belt this summer with Bon Jovi, Steel Panther, Whitesnake, and a couple amazing festivals and a majorly successful German tour, so we are geared up and ready for sure.
MPAP: Tell us some of the best things about being a part of a music festival, especially playing at one of this magnitude?
ARCHIE: The best thing about it is that after finishing your set, you get to see all these amazing bands perform and meet you colleagues from around the world. It’s like you get to play, and then go enjoy a music festival for free. That’s pretty rad right?
MPAP: Yes it is. So, explain to us what is a day in the life when you’re performing at a music festival? Do you go hang out with the other bands, mingle with the fans, or kick back and relax on the tour bus until it’s time to hit the stage?
ARCHIE: Before my set I like to kick back and focus. That way I make sure I’m in the zone and able to give my best performance for the fans and people who’ve come to see the band. After my job is done, I go meet the fans, mingle, take pics, sign things and what not, and after that is done with, I just chill, enjoy other bands and hang out.
MPAP: This year’s bill has Slipknot, Staind, Tool, Korn, along with many others, including Lamb Of God, Highly Suspect, Gojira, and Babymetal. Is there any group that you’re especially looking forward to watching from the side stage the day you perform?
ARCHIE: I’m definitely super excited to go see Slipknot. They’re one of the best live bands out there and I wouldn’t miss that for anything!
MPAP: I totally agree with you. Now what’s in the crosshairs for Santa Cruz after the festival? What else do you have going on after that we should all know about?
ARCHIE: We got a major US tour coming up, but I can’t speak of that just yet! Next year tour as much as possible, then work on the follow up album for Katharsis.
MPAP: On behalf of myself and Metal Pulp And Paper, thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions. We look forward to what Santa Cruz does to finish out 2019 and beyond. Any last words for all your fans and all the Aftershock Festival maniacs out there that will see you in October? What do you want to tell them so they will go out and buy tickets and travel to California to see you and many others play live?
ARCHIE: What’s up maniacs! Come see the premiere acts todays metal/rock scene has to offer to Aftershock Festival! You won’t regret it!
