METAL PULP AND PAPER: Hello Mark. So glad to be catching up with you. Thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions for Metal Pulp And Paper about the upcoming 2019 Aftershock Festival that you are slated to be playing at in Sacramento, California coming this October.
MARK MELICIA: Hello, no problem and thanks for us!
MPAP: Aftershock is a monstrous event for music fans and music lovers everywhere. It’s metal, it’s rock and roll, it’s more metal, and it’s more rock and roll. To sum it up, it’s a three-day event with three stages, with over 50 artists at the Discovery Park in beautiful Sacramento, California. Are you geared up and ready for it?
MARK: We are very ready for it. We are super excited to play for everyone and to check out some great bands.
MPAP: Tell us some of the best things about being a part of a music festival, especially playing at one of this magnitude?
MARK: Festivals like Aftershock are great because it’s an opportunity to make new fans. It’s also awesome to see other bands play. We always enjoy talking to people after the set and then walking around and taking in all the festival has to offer.
MPAP: Explain to us what is a day in the life when you’re performing at a music festival? Do you go hang out with the other bands, mingle with the fans, or kick back and relax on the tour bus until it’s time to hit the stage?
MARK: Normally you have to get there very early because you usually have to sound check before the doors open. Other than that, it’s really depends on how much time you have to hang out. Many times, we’ve a had to pack up and leave for the next city. It’s always best when you can meet up with other bands, your friends, and have some fun. Although must say that has been kind of rare for us. We always love to meet fans and make friends.
MPAP: This year’s bill has Slipknot, Staind, Tool, Korn, along with many others, including Lamb Of God, Highly Suspect, Gojira, and Babymetal. Is there any group that you’re especially looking forward to watching from the side stage the day you perform?
MARK: I think seeing Fishbone would be cool. The beauty of festivals is discovering new artists or seeing someone you wouldn’t normally see and becoming a fan or gaining a new appreciation for what they do. So, I look forward most to that.
MPAP: What’s in the crosshairs for The Parlor Mob after the festival? What else do you have going on after that we should all know about?
MARK: We have a new record coming out on August 16th called Dark Hour. We are super excited to get out there and support it. Aftershock will be in the midst of a nationwide tour we’ll be announcing soon.
MPAP: On behalf of myself and Metal Pulp And Paper, thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions. We look forward to what The Parlor Mob does to finish out 2019 and beyond.
MARK: Thanks so much!
MPAP: Any last words for all your fans and all the Aftershock Festival maniacs out there that will see you in October? What do you want to tell them so they will go out and buy tickets and travel to California to see you and many others play live?
MARK: Come check out Aftershock! Lots of rock bands all in one place. If you can’t make that check out our new record August 16th and come see us on the road.
