METAL PULP AND PAPER: Hello Justine. So glad to be catching up with you. Thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions for Metal Pulp And Paper about the upcoming 2019 Aftershock Festival that you are slated to be playing at in Sacramento, California coming this October.
Aftershock is a monstrous event for music fans and music lovers everywhere. It’s metal, it’s rock and roll, it’s more metal, and it’s more rock and roll. To sum it up, it’s a three-day event with three stages, with over 50 artists at the Discovery Park in beautiful Sacramento, California. Are you geared up and ready for it?
Tell us some of the best things about being a part of a music festival, especially playing at one of this magnitude?
JUSTINE GLASER: We are ready to roll! The guys and I are so excited to be a part of this and there are so many amazing bands on this bill. I think the best thing about music festivals is that people go to listen and enjoy music. Performance wise, we are going to be feeding off the energy of the crowd. I love that we are going to be playing in front of a crowd of diehard music fans.
MPAP: Explain to us what is a day in the life when you’re performing at a music festival? Do you go hang out with the other bands, mingle with the fans, or kick back and relax on the tour bus until it’s time to hit the stage?
JUSTINE: This is our first festival that we’ve ever had the privilege of playing! Can we answer this question October 14th? (joking!) I think in general; we’ll be having a blast! We love meeting fans and we’ll definitely be out there supporting the other bands playing too. I think it’s so important that we show our love and support to our fellow musicians. Everyone on the line up has worked incredibly hard to be there.
MPAP: This year’s bill has Slipknot, Staind, Tool, Korn, along with many others, including Lamb Of God, Highly Suspect, Gojira, and Babymetal. Is there any group that you’re especially looking forward to watching from the side stage the day you perform?
JUSTINE: I know! It’s funny because a year ago I watched Tool play with Godsmack through a fence at a CVS parking lot with a friend of mine, and now we are going to be playing on the same day as Tool. I’m a huge fan of Tool so this really means a lot. They are a band I’ve always looked up to. I hope I can watch Tool from the side stage!!
MPAP: What’s in the crosshairs for Blue Midnight after the festival? What else do you have going on after that we should all know about?
JUSTINE: After we play the festival, we are planning on recording and releasing some new music! We are still going back and forth about whether it’s an album or an EP, but we do know the next release will be called Dreamchaser! We are currently in the writing stage!
MPAP: On behalf of myself and Metal Pulp And Paper, thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions. We look forward to what Blue Midnight does to finish out 2019 and beyond.
Any last words for all your fans and all the Aftershock Festival maniacs out there that will see you in October? What do you want to tell them so they will go out and buy tickets and travel to California to see you and many others play live?
JUSTINE: We just want to thank everyone who’s been supporting us and everyone who’s believed in us. It means the world. We’re looking forward to giving all of you an awesome show and please stay tuned, you will hear more from us!
