The word around the campfire is there is some drama going on between Slayer and Danzig because of something that happened in Mexico at the Force Fest Festival. It was stated that some bands that were scheduled to perform canceled because day two of the event was rained out. That left the festival's organizers needing to reschedule the show. In the end, Danzig was moved to a different stage and set to play earlier in the evening, and evidently, he didn't like that.
Bruce Miyaki, manager for Danzig’s Misfits bandmate, Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein, posted this on his Facebook, which has since been deleted, “Slayer pulled a total Dick move today !!! I’ve been a fan for 20+ years but when a band pulls a power trip and decide they want to play in Glenn [Danzig]’s slot and basically tell him play after us because we want to leave an hour early…. That’s FUCKING bullshit .. Glenn has a flight to catch tonight and can’t play an hour and a half later … Wow I lost all respect for those guys in Slayer…..#notcool”
Danzig was initially scheduled to play the third stage from 9:30 p.m. to 10:25 p.m., but then was then moved to the main stage to play 9:00 p.m. to 10:15 p.m, and Slayer were to follow, playing 10:25 to midnight, closing out the show.
If you are not following Sandra Araya's Official Fan Facebook page, here is what she had to say when a Metal Injection story about this whole ordeal was shared on her page: First off, the whole show was a Slayer show. The whole thing was to get Slayer to play the last time in Mexico! So it’s Slayer's gig period! Secondly, half the bands didn’t show (due to financial issues) not Slayer's deal either. Third, all bands that showed were rearranged and shuffled around after they seen who arrived. Fourth Danzig was given 3 options early and refused them! Fith... changed his mind last minute and it was too late. So, maybe he can play Mexico any spot he wants on his retirement tour.
Sandra also had this to say when responding to a comment on her page, 'when Tom reached his hotel he thought he had 4-5 hours before he had to leave. He was in his room maybe 15 mins when he got the call asking if he could meet downstairs in 30 to play several hours earlier than expected. His flight as all other band members never changed from the original line up time slot either! Tom just did as asked. I mean things changed you just roll with the flow.
It’s about the fans anyways or should be we believe!'
Either way, it just sounds like Danzig is throwing his usual temper tantrum and we'll see what he has to say next, if anything.
